Mayor Lamar Thorpe Opposes Governor's Proposed Delta Tunnel

"In 2022, when we hosted Governor Gavin Newsom, I made it clear to him and anyone listening, I am firmly opposed to diverting additional water from the Delta. Diverting more water threatens the Delta’s sensitive ecosystem and Antioch’s ability to provide reliable, quality water to residents.

Last December, the Governor reaffirmed support for the updated Delta Tunnel to export more water to Southern California. While I support the Governor’s Water Resilience Portfolio, I am still firmly opposed to the Delta Tunnel. I’m calling on the Governor to change course and find better, innovative solutions to modernizing California’s water supply."
