Statement by Mayor Lamar Hernandez-Thorpe Re. the Passing of Mr. Willie Mims

“Mayor Lamar Hernandez-Thorpe sends his deepest condolences and prayers to the family and friends of Mr. Willie Mims.

For decades, Mr. Mims has been at the forefront of the civil rights movement in Contra Costa County.

His unwavering commitment to the cause, and his willingness to always be a beacon of light for the disenfranchised make him an irreplaceable icon.

The Mayor will honor Mr. Mims with a moment of silence and reflection at the next scheduled meeting of the Antioch City Council.”
